Many unscrupulous producers only specify
the ratio of kilograms of raw mushrooms used to
produce 1 kilogram of mushroom extract. This ratio
alone is misleading. It is far more important
to know the concentration of active compounds
in the extract. Poor quality extraction techniques
deliver as little as 10% concentration levels
of
the active compound.
Mycopharma® uses
highly efficient extraction techniques that ensure
at least 20% concentration of active compounds
in the extract.
Higher labelling standards
Many mushroom
extract producers claim inflated polysaccharide
levels that are not actually evident when tested.
Even when claims are not inflated, the base polysaccharide
level is still misleading because most of it is
not bioavailable and so provides no benefit. Unless
polysaccharides are released from the mushroom
cell wall the human body cannot access the compound
and cannot derive any benefit.
